DescriptionÂ
With support and inspiration from the beauty of the hills and mountains around us, we will explore the Buddha Dharma from the paradigm of receptivity, allowing ourselves to be touched by life and recognize our deep belonging. By practicing dropping out of our usual mind-oriented relationship with the world and dropping into the body, we will establish a relationship of heartfelt intimacy and respect, both with our own experience and the natural world around us. Through community and connection with nature, we will contemplate the Buddha’s teachings and remember that we are already home on our beloved planet Earth. This silent retreat will include sitting and walking meditation, outdoor practice, qi gong, chanting, talks, and inquiry sessions. Both new and seasoned practitioners are warmly welcomed.
Overview: Registration, Scholarships, Teacher Dana
With generous support from the BESS Family Foundation, which is underwriting some of the costs for all yogis, we are able to offer $2000 in scholarships. We can accommodate about 30 participants, depending upon which housing/camping options fill. The per person registration fee includes three nights of housing, nine meals, and IWM administrative costs. In the registration process, there’s an opportunity to request a partial scholarship. Registration fees do not include teacher dana. Prior to the start of the retreat, all yogis will need to sign waivers and provide emergency contact information.
Teacher Dana
In alignment with our Buddhist lineage, teachers offer the dharma freely, and rely on the generosity (dana) of the students for their livelihood and for the continued opportunity to carry on these teachings into the future. The registration fees for this retreat do not include payment for the teachers. You may give teacher dana at the time of registration and will also have the opportunity to do so during and after the retreat. To further support the teachers, the BESS Family Foundation has also generously offered dana.
Registration
Registration fees are per person–by room type and registration level, and there are three registration fee levels (subsidized, base, sustaining). Registration fees do not include teacher dana. Each person should register individually in order to answer the specific questions included in the registration process. For shared rooms (where yogis are seeking roommates), IWM will assign roommates based on gender and preferences. Unless you are requesting a scholarship, payment in full is due at the time of registration. If you need to make a payment plan, please email general@insightwma.org.

Scholarships
As part of IWM’s commitment to make the dharma accessible to all, and with a deep bow of thanks for the generous support from the BESS Family Foundation, IWM can offer partial scholarships for this retreat. If the full retreat cost would create a financial hardship, we encourage you to request a scholarship. We will let you know as soon as possible after April 12th if we’re able to fill all requests (and on a rolling basis after that).
Until April 12th, IWM is reserving some spaces and scholarship funds for those who indicate they identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color), non-binary, gender expansive, trans, or participate in one of IWM’s Queer & Trans, Under 35, or Chronic Illness/Disability affinity group.
To spread scholarship funds further, we ask that each yogi requesting aid contribute a minimum of $100. Please choose the level that works for you. To hold a bed while we determine if we can fund your scholarship request, we require a $25 fully refundable credit card deposit.
